Data Center Computer Operator
Location:  Miramar, FL
Duration: 8 months contract
Scope of work:
The IT Operations Support will have a basic comprehensive understanding of operations on the AS400 and AIX environments.

Duties and Responsibilities will include the following, but not limited to;

? Be able to follow established departmental standards and procedures.
? Monitor environmental systems.
? Monitor Network links.
? Perform daily walkthroughs in the Data Centers.
? Monitor batch work and move workloads as required to ensure successful completion.
? Observe and evaluate jobs, system and programs performance.
? Support and resolve issues which include: data transmissions, user reports, system access, system messages, and equipment failures.
? Supporting users over the phone with system support questions. Open, address, resolve, close trouble tickets.
? Document, escalates and follow up on system problems when necessary.
? Works with team members, business associates, and vendors on identifying problems and finding resolutions.
? Make certain that daily workloads are completed on time and on schedule.
? Understand backup and recovery concepts, strategies, and procedures.
? Conduct nightly backups and prepare media for off-site storage.
? Maintain comprehensive, timely, and accurate system logs and system reporting data to produce daily status reports.
? Brief the oncoming operator at shift change on systems status and subjects of immediate and/or critical importance.
? Produce daily status report
? Work 10-hour shifts, rotating through days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
? Exhibit a professional manner in dealing with others and strive to maintain constructive working relationships.
? Complete daily time sheets and clarity requirements.
? Attend change management meetings
Required skills/competencies:
? B.S. Degree in Computer Science, Business Administration or equivalent experience. Preferred
? 2- 5 years computer operations experience. Required
? Exceptional oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Required.
? Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules or composition, and grammar. Required
? Willingness and availability to work a variety of fluctuating schedules - 10 hours on rotating four days/three days off. Required.
? Experience working directly with customers and I.T personnel. Required.
? Experience with IBM iSeries and pSeries - AS/400 operations, network servers and data communications. Required
? Help Systems - ROBOT AS/400 and agent job scheduling experience required
? IBM TWS agent job scheduling experience. Required
? Understand backup and recovery concepts, strategies, and procedures. Required
? Demonstrated ability to perform successfully in an open environment where frequent and direct interaction and collaboration with customers and peers is ordinary. Required
? Cruise line systems experience. Preferred
