Berean Group is looking for PMO Controller

 

Location: Miramar, FL

Duration: 12 months contract

 

Scope of work:

·         The Project Controller, working closely with Portfolio, Program, and Project Managers, is responsible for the development and maintenance of enterprise portfolio and project budgets and plans. May be assigned to a portfolio or large program or single large project with multiple sub-projects; otherwise the project controller will be assigned to a specific team within the IT PMO structure. The Project Controller works closely with IT Project Managers, Portfolio Managers, Resource Managers, and IT Finance Managers to provide the team a clear view of resource capacity and demand. 

·         Ability to lead IT Managers throughout the estimation process. 

·         Ensures estimates are comprehensive, accurate and recorded correctly 

·         Ability to develop resource staffing and high level project schedules and plans with technical teams and resource managers. 

·         Accountable for accurate forecasting of IT resource utilization (resources, roles, and cost-based resources) per annual capital planning and estimation within assigned portfolio of up to 8-10 projects or a budget of up to $60M.

·         Creates, manages, maintains and updates multiple project budgets in a complex project environment. 

·         Works closely with PMO Project Managers to perform project reconciliations (i.e., Capital in Services, Earned Value analysis) and develop project plan baselines 

·         Communicate project financials to appropriate involved individuals.

·         Keeps Project Managers informed of impacts to project budgets and forecasts.

·         Works with Project Managers to ensure that budgetary changes and their impacts are accurately reflected in the master plans. 

·         Provides key data to Portfolio Management to update project financials and impact on overall portfolio (e.g. Earned Value, CIP, etc.) 

·         Responsible for reviewing and/or resolving discrepancies or inconsistencies that could affect the accuracy of forecasting 

·         Responsible for following IT PMI & IT Finance internal processes/policies

·         Supports all resource manager groups in financial forecasting. 

·         Tracks and maintains internal and external project financial dependencies. 

·         Develops and owns financial views for assigned portfolio and across enterprise. 

·         Mentors others in project controller activities, as well Project Schedulers. 

·         Identifies and communicates issues with respect to project controls. 

·         Participates in project risk analysis. 

·         Works with PMO Project Managers to resolve issues/conflicts. 

·         Develops and presents program/project financial reports. 

·         Applies appropriate metrics for project control. 

·         Evaluates proposed changes requests. 

·         Assists Project Managers in developing WBS and CPM for new projects, establish earned value techniques to be used in the project; reviews plans for accuracy and completeness; baselines plan. 

·         Performs other duties as required. 

Required skills/competencies:

·         Extensive experience (7+ years) in the management of projects.

·         Extensive experience in using project health metrics for analyzing and reporting on projects.

·         PMP® or other project management certification or equivalent experience required. 

·         Must be able to work independently with little oversight 

·         Must have strong oral and written communication and problem solving abilities. 

·         Good analytical skills and expertise with relevant software tools. 

·         Ability to work in a matrixed cross-functional team environment; able to work with all levels of management and technical staff. 

·         Must be a team player and demonstrate a teamwork approach to performance. 

·         Good time management skills. 

·         Sound understanding of project management in relation to timeframes dependencies and critical paths. 

·         Ability to remain calm and productive in a high-pressure environment. 

·         Must know and be comfortable with using Clarity / Work Bench as the scheduling software.

·         Organization, communication, and facilitation skills; credibility with executive management.

·         Sound understanding of project management, scheduling and financial concepts. 

·         Sound understanding of project portfolio management and reporting. 

·         Ability to instill trust, motivate, and work with other people. 

·         Ability to create and deliver executive-level summary reports and presentations.

·         Ability to build solid relationships across multiple departments. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

·         Requires a Bachelor?s degree in area of specialty, or equivalent experience. Master?s degree preferred.

·         Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in financial analysis, managing projects and/or programs, or managing equivalent financials. 

·         Relevant certification in finance, project management and/or degree in a relevant technology 

·         Extensive experience in using project management metrics for analysis and reporting on project financials. 

 

Preferred Education:

·         Requires a Bachelor?s degree in area of specialty, or equivalent experience. Master?s degree preferred. 

 

Required Certifications:

·         Certification in Project Management (PMP) or equivalent
